Welcome Paige and on to the questions 🙂

How did you get started writing?

I’ve always written, I guess. Usually it was journal entries, short stories. During my Master’s program, I decided to give creative writing a chance and it stuck.

What made you choose BDSM erotica?

I enjoy the lifestyle and love the relationship that builds between a Dom and submissive. It was my opinion to focus on the emotional aspects of BDSM rather than the BDSM itself, although it is entwined within the stories. I want readers to understand the whys behind the characters desires and motivations.

What was the best piece of writing advice you received?

To read as much as I could and to keep writing. You never publish a book that isn’t written.

What do you think makes good BDSM erotica?

Connection. The characters need that trustworthy connection in the story and readers need to be able to connect with the characters. It is easy to attempt to write BDSM erotica, but I think an author needs to understand the dynamics behind the D/s relationship, whether just play partners or Dom/sub, Master/slave in order to fully bring the characters and topics to life.

Where do you get your ideas and your characters from?

My ideas come from everywhere really. I’ll hear a song and be like “Hmm, that verse would make a great opening to a story.” My characters are evolved from people I know, a combination of people or just ‘characters’ that I need to write about, issues that need to be worked out.

Following on from that, where did you get the idea for Consume Me from?

During Devour Me, I ended up becoming friends with a submissive in training and I thought it would be interesting to center a novel on a submissive training program. The idea of the Dom falling for the submissive lends itself to the age-old romance.

Was Consume Me always planned as a sequel to Devour Me and how did you come up with the idea for the series?

Consume Me was always planned as a sequel as is the third novel, Dominate Me. I wanted to write a series of novels focusing on a group of friends that happen to be Doms and owners of a BDSM club. Each character has a live outside of the club per say, but I’ve enjoyed reading series that intertwine characters throughout the series, you never feel as a reader that you won’t see how the other couples’ stories end or continue.

What do you think makes a good sex scene?

If I get aroused and ready to jump my husband, it’s a great scene :). I thing authors need to make the scenes believable (body placements, time frame of the scene, the build-up). Realistic dialogue within the scene also helps. I’ve read many erotic novels where the character’s vocals during the act just don’t work within the scene. I think it distracts the reader. I try to make the ‘dialogue’ as realistic in mine as possible.

Do you have a writing routine? Do you need absolute quiet to write or background music/noise?

Lately, I write whenever I get a few free minutes. I tend to write wherever, usually sitting on the couch while the kids are watching tv or playing.

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block and if so, how do you get over it?

If a writer states they don’t suffer from writer’s block, they lie. Call it what you want- lack of motivation, creative juices not flowing- I think we all at some point hit that block. There are days I have no motivation to write, other days I just can’t get the right words out. I usually try and working on brainstorming for another story or re-read a part of the story I am stuck on.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

A little of both. I think I like to plot the basic idea of the novel so I know where I am aiming to go, but the process between is very chaotic and panster like.

What do you like most about being a writer?

The ability to craft a world that not only I can escape into, but my readers-if only temporary. I like the reprieve that I get creating and seeing the world from many different view points

Out of all your books, do you think you could pick a favourite and why?

Oh…hmm…I’d have to say Consume Me is my favorite so far. I just love Marcus and Emma’s story, the way they fight so hard to maintain their control even though they both know there is no use in that.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I’m usually working my day job or hanging out with my family.

What’s next for you?

I am currently working on a new series and the first novel is scheduled for release around Christmas. I then plan on beginning the third novel in the Devoured Series as well as some medical themed short story erotica

Thank You Liv for having me on the blog today and for hosting a stop of the tour. There is a contest, through Rafflecopter for your readers to enjoy!

You’re welcome :). And there is indeed a Rafflecopter, but first, here’s the blurb for the book and a seriously hot excerpt :):

Blurb:

Emma O’Connor’s interest in bondage and submission has led her to the training program at Devoured. With past sexual experiences less than par, Emma wants nothing more than to submit to a Master. With her need for pleasure and her desire to please, Emma finds herself exploring the desires that have remained subdued; although unsure if she could make a good submissive.

Marcus, the Dom in charge of the training program at Devoured, is more than interested in the feisty submissive. When Emma walks in for her interview, Marcus knows he’s met his match. Consumed by nothing but thoughts of her, Marcus begins to doubt his ability to stay in control and his previous stance on collaring a submissive. Marcus finds himself unsure of his feelings for Emma, and his responsibility to the other trainees.

When a threat surfaces against Emma and her past comes back to haunt her, Marcus must admit his feelings for her in order to protect her, or risk losing her forever.

Join Marcus, Emma, and the rest of the Devoured Club Doms and Subs in the second installment of the Devoured Club Series.

Excerpt:

“Yes, sir, I am ready.” Her voice was laced with need and desire. The musky smell from her arousal filled my senses as I grabbed my flogger off the bed.

I began to run it over her body, lightly grazing her back and ass, the inside of her thighs, and even through her pussy. The motion was meant to awaken her skin and desensitize it prior to me picking up the impact of the whip. I chose a low intensity flogger, one that would have a lighter sting and more thud than a thicker flogger. I wanted to start her off slow, and build her tolerance up. She had mentioned that one of her biggest fantasies was to be restrained against a St. Andrew’s cross and flogged until she came. I would make that fantasy come true, but for now, baby steps, so to say.

I continued to run the flogger over her, teasing her while alternating between grazing and light strikes against her skin to awaken it, prepare it for the heavier strikes.

“Sub, tell me why you hesitated earlier in the lounge?” I ran my hands over her breasts, pausing to feel them roll through my fingers, pinching her nipples before I picked up the flogger and continued on. Her body swayed toward me, yearning for more.

“Sir…I um…” her response fragmented as I lightly struck her thigh with the flogger.

“I’m waiting, pet. Answer me.” I growled back while landing the flogger on her ass.

“Sir…Public nudity brought back a bad memory, sir, I’m sorry. I won’t hesitate again.” Her voice was shaky, as if she was trying to hide something. I picked up the speed and rhythm of the impacts, varying the positions from her ass to her back to her thighs. I paused to give her body a break, and her head sagged onto my shoulder.

I ran my fingers over her sex, to find her wetness dripping down her leg. “We will talk about that in more detail later, but one more question before I allow you to come.”

“Yes, sir?”
